While many adventures inFinal Fantasy 14have taken players all across Eorzea (and now Tural) throughout each expansion, only a select few have sent them to the stars. The dramatic storyline ofEndwalkerbrought Warriors of Light to the moon and introduced thecurious and eccentric Loporrits. With the conclusion of that chapter, however, there was little reason to return in terms of content.
However, the introduction of Cosmic Exploration inFinal Fantasy 14has changed that, and if you’re ready to return to the cosmos, then you’ll need to know what to bring with you for the trip.
What Is Cosmic Exploration In Final Fantasy 14?
Cosmic Exploration is a unique type of community-based content inFFXIVthat draws inspiration from previous in-game iterations such as The Firmament andIsland Sanctuary. It invites players to “explore the uncharted terrain of the cosmos” by using crafting and gathering jobs to help build base camps on various stars, starting with the familiar landscape ofMare Lamentorum.
you’re able to contribute toward the overall progression of base construction on each star by completing stellar missions, Mech Ops, Cosmic Exploration Project FATEs, and more. You’ll not only obtain EXP for your chosen jobs (if they’re not already max level) but also two special currencies (Lunar CreditsandCosmocredits) that you can use to exchange for other rewards such as furnishings, mounts, minions, etc.
Alongside other types of content such asCustom Deliveries, Cosmic Exploration is a fantastic, easy, and incredibly efficient way to level your crafting and gathering jobs, making them more approachable for all players.
How To Unlock Cosmic Exploration In Final Fantasy 14
To be able to participate in Cosmic Exploration, there are two main objectives you need to account for.
First, you need to complete the Main Scenario Questline (MSQ) fortheEndwalkerexpansion, as you need access to at least one of its regions for this content.
Second, you need to have either a crafter (Disciple of Hand) or gatherer (Disciple of Land) job atLevel 10 or higher. Considering the minimal EXP requirement to reach that, it won’t take long at all if you haven’t done so already.
Once you’ve taken care of both those prerequisites, head to Old Sharlayan and look for the Loporrit namedNamingwayat (X:12.6, Y:13.6). Speak to them with your desired crafter or gatherer job equipped, and they’ll provide you with the’A Cosmic Homecoming’quest.
Head toMare Lamentorumand meet up with Namingway at (X:8.5, Y:35.8), just south of the Sinus Lacrimarum aetheryte. They’ll lead the way back to Bestways Burrow and more cutscenes of reunions with the other Loporrits will ensue, includingSearchingway. At one point, Searchingway will reveal their grand dream called the Cosmic Exploration Initiative — and invite the player to come along.
Afterward, speak to Drivingway nearby, who will escort you and Namingway by moon rover to the Moongate Hub (also known asSinus Ardorum), the proverbial starting point and base of operations. Continue speaking with the Loporrits, and they’ll leave you to get familiar with the base and all that it has to offer.
At the end of the quest, you’ll be rewarded with aCosmic Prototype Coffer, which gives you a cosmic prototype tool, according to the job you currently have equipped. As you progress with Cosmic Exploration’s objectives, you’ll be able to upgrade your prototype weapon.
Keep in mind that while you may teleport within Sinus Ardorum itself via the ‘Stellar Return’ ability on your HUD, to return there from other regions of the game, you will need tospeak to Drivingway back in Bestways Burrow.
