Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remasteredlets players create very detailed characters in its character creator. Players will gain benefits based on what race they choose, what their birthsign is, and their chosen class. While a player’s choice of class will have the largest impact on how their skills will level up in the game, their racial choice can come with some long-term benefits.
Players willfind many racesthat have a power they can cast similar to casting a spell. These tend to have a limit of once per day. However, there are also races that have permanent passives that will affect them at all times. Players will see these passives every time they look at their Active Effects.
What Are Active Effects in Oblivion Remastered
Active Effects come in many different forms. Some of them will come from passive abilities that are added during character creation. Others will be added over the course of the game, and a large portion will be temporary. Argonians haveWater Breathingas one of their passive racial features, but any player can get this Active Effect through casting a spell or wearing an item likethe Water Breathing Ring.
Players can find their Active Effects by opening their menu, going to their Magic tab, and then paging to the far right option.
The only difference is that while Argonians permanently have this Active Effect as a racial ability, spells will last a set duration before they wear off. At which point, players will need to reapply the spell. However, not all active effects are beneficial, and many of them will hinder players.
Players may be out adventuring, open their inventory, and notice their carrying capacity has taken a sharp drop from what it usually is. This is likely due to a negative Active Effect they have picked up —such as a Disease. Negative Active Effects will have a red arrow instead of a green one. Players may continue to go about the game and notice that these effects seem to persist indefinately.
How To Remove Negative Active Effects in Oblivion Remastered
To remove an Active Effect that is reducing your carrying capacity, you will need to find the cause of it.Strength governs carrying capacity, so it is likely that something is draining your character’s Strength. By going into Active Effects and scrolling down, you will see more information about the cause, such as its name and what it is.
Rats are a common cause of players suffering Feeble Limb, which will dain their Strength and lower their carrying capacity.
For example, players can cure diseases inOblivion Remasteredusing a potion or a spell. Players canbuy a Cure Disease potionat any level, but it will take them time in leveling up their Alchemy or Restoration to remove it themselves.
Some negative active effects can be removed by visiting alters.
Most of the time, Active Effects from magical spells will be short-lived. Players could find themselves having one of their attributes drained; severely reducing their performance in the midst of combat. When this happens, players' best options are to pull out a scroll or cast a spell that will Dispel these effects.
