RuneScape: Dragonwildsis a survival crafting game with quite a few features that set it apart from the crowd, and one such feature is its magic system. Players can cast spells to help them gather resources and defeat enemies inRuneScape: Dragonwilds, but all magic spells require special ammunition that can only be crafted at a Rune Altar.

Early in the game, a tutorial quest from Zanik tasks players with gathering Rune Essence and then taking it to a Rune Altar to craft Air Runes and Astral Runes, two key components of magical spells inDragonwilds. Many players are stumped by this quest since they don’t know where to find a Rune Altar, but the solution is much simpler than most would think. Here’s how to complete the Rune Mysteries quest inRuneScape: Dragonwilds.

RuneScape Dragonwilds Rune Altar Crafting

How to Build a Rune Altar inRuneScape: Dragonwilds

A Rune Altar can be constructed from the build menu inRuneScape: Dragonwilds. It’s basically a crafting table but for magic, so it can be found right next to the crafting table in theDragonwildsbuild menu.

To construct a Rune Altar, players must gather 12 Stone and four Rune Essence. Stone is gathered by picking up small rocks scattered across the ground or mining larger boulders with a pickaxe, while Rune Essence is obtained by mining the glowing rocks near Rune sites. There’s a deposit of Rune Essence right next to Zanik, so players don’t have to go very far to get what they need.

RuneScape Dragonwilds Air Rune Crafting

Once the Rune Altar is placed, players can use it to craft Air Runes and Astral Runes. The former is usable as ammunition when a magic weapon is equipped, but both are consumed to cast magic spells. New spells can be unlocked byleveling up skills, and players can view upcoming spells on the progression path by pressing the K key and scrolling down each individual skill tree.

Zanik only needs a few of each type of Rune, so players don’t need to spend too long gathering Rune Essence. When players deliver the Astral Runes and Air Runes to Zanik, the quest will be completed. At that point, players will be instructed to meet an old man at a nearby abandoned settlement to continue their journey.
