While survivors can defend themselves against zombies with unarmed melee attacks, a dedicated weapon like a knife or gun is the best way to avoid injuries and themental trauma that results from close encounters with the undead. Even when armed, survivors will still need to exercise caution when exploring Walton City’s more dangerous regions. Still, a weapon makes supply runs much safer for players' survivor groups.
Like all supplies inInto the Dead: Our Darkest Days, weapons must be scavenged on supply runs throughout Walton City. Players can sometimes begin a run with weapons already in their inventory depending on their chosen pair of starting survivors and other factors, but these starting weapons won’t be more powerful than basic knives or frying pans. They’ll also break quite easily, so players shouldn’t rely on them too often.
To get the best weapons inInto the Dead: Our Darkest Days, players should send their survivors on scavenging runs to locations that have all three dots filled in for the weapons category. Each POI inInto the Dead: Our Darkest Dayshas ratings that measure the total available amounts of food, base resources, medicine, weapons, and other supplies. Places like Fire Station No. 8 and Hackett Construction Inc. are the best POIs to visit if players are in need of weapons, for example.
Just because a POI seemingly has a ton of weapons based on its map information, that doesn’t mean a survivor will end a supply run with a backpack filled with guns and knives.Weapons are incredibly rare inInto the Dead: Our Darkest Days, so even the best scavenging spots might only have one or two small knives or blunt weapons for survivors to loot. That’s if the survivors even find the weapon caches in the first place. These POIs are dangerous and crawling with zombies, so players may not be able to safely investigate every room in a single supply run.
Unfortunately, weapons cannot be repaired inInto the Dead: Our Darkest Days. Once a weapon breaks, it’s gone for good. Even the best melee weapons will only survive a handful of strikes against undead foes, so players should use their weapons sparingly and sneak by the zombies when given the opportunity.
While players cannot repair broken weapons, they can still use raw materials to craft more.Into the Dead: Our Darkest Daysplayers can upgrade their home bases with crafting stations like the weapon bench, which enables basic weaponry like hammers and knives to be crafted from metal, wood, and other resources. The weapon bench can be upgraded to unlock new weapons as well. The limited arsenal makesInto the Dead: Our Darkest Daysone of the more experimental zombie games on the market, but experienced survivors can prepare for the road ahead and avoid combat when possible.
