TheHonorblade of Chorrolis one of the best weapons players will find in the early sections ofOblivion Remastered.Unfortunately, the quest in which this unique sword is acquired – “Sins of the Father” – forces you to hand it over at its conclusion. Unlike many powerful weapons inOblivion Remastered, the Honorblade of Chorrol is not magic, meaning it does not require constant recharging with Soul Gems. On top of that, it is weightless, which is an extremely useful perk for the constantly over-encumbered adventurer. So it is understandable that many players will look for a way to keep this weapon. In this guide, we’ll show you how to get the weapon, and show youhow to keep the Honorblade of Chorrol inOblivion Remastered.

How to Get the Honorblade of Chorrol in Oblivion Remastered

Jemane Family Questline:

While the process of getting theHonorblade of Chorrol inOblivion Remasteredis not exactly difficult, it is somewhat time-consuming. This is because, to get this weapon, you’ll have to complete a three-part chain of quests that center around theJemane family. The three quests are as follows:

Separated at Birth:

The questline begins with “Separated at Birth,” which takes place inChorrolandCheydinhal. The first step you’ll need to take is questioning the people of Chorrol. Walk around town and start asking everyone you can aboutRumors. We got the information after questioning around five NPCs. Eventually, we got it fromNermus the Mooch.

He told us aboutReynald Jemane, a resident of Chorrol who he claims to have seen in Cheydinhal. He claims that Reynald gave him the cold shoulder, walking right by him without any acknowledgment. Ask him for more information when prompted, which will unlock “Separated at Birth.”

You’ll now need to speak to Reynald Jemane. Use the quest marker to locate him within Chorrol. After speaking with him, you’ll go to Cheydinhal to find the lookalike, who ends up being his long-lost brother, Guilbert. Speak to him, and the two brothers will reunite in Chorrol. It’s not difficult, just a lot of back and forth.

Lost Legacy:

After the brothers Jemane have been reunited, they’ll ask you to locate their family home,Weatherleah. They don’t know where it’s located, so you must ask around Chorrol. Eventually, you’ll have to meetSabine Laulat theFighter’s Guild in Chorrol.

Speaking to Sabine will lead you to Weatherleah, which sits south of Chorrol, almost perfectly between that city andSkingrad.Clear out the Ogres that are roaming around the grounds. Once they are taken care of, return to the Jemane brothers, and they’ll accompany you back to the home, ending the quest.

Sins of the Father:

The third quest, “Sins of the Father,” isn’t quite as straightforward as the previous quests. First, as soon as you’re done with “Lost Legacy,” you’ll have to wait two in-game days before the next major event occurs. you’re able to either sleep to pass the time, or use the Wait mechanic. Once two days have gone by, walk around Chorrol until a dark elf namedFathis Ulesapproaches you.

He will offer you a special job, which boils down to stealing the Honorblade of Chorrol from the group of ogres that ransacked Weatherleah. Make sure to accept the job from him. He will send you to theRedguard Valley Cave, which sits directly to the east of Weatherleah.

Should You Return the Honorblade of Chorrol in Oblivion Remastered?

Yes, But Wait:

When you collect the Honorblade of Chorrol, you’ll notice that “Sins of the Father” only gives you the following two options:

Seeing those two options, along with knowing how great the Honorblade of Chorrol is, many players will wonder:can I keep the Honorblade of Chorrol? The short answer is, yes, you can. We’ll go over that further down. We’ll go over that further down. First, we’ll look at what happens if you decide tosell or return the Honorblade.

Selling the Honorblade of Chorrol:

The one option that makes absolutely no long-term sense is selling the Honorblade of Chorrol. If you follow the original offer, and bring the blade back to Fathis Ules, you will only get1,500 Gold. This is a lot of gold early in the game, but there is no way it is worth giving up the sword for.

Do not sell the Honorblade of Chorrol back to Fathis Ules.

Returning the Honorblade of Chorrol:

The next option is to return the Honorblade of Chorrol to Chorrol Castle. To do this, enter the Great Hall and speak tod, the Countess' Herald. Returning the sword to him will earn you theEscutcheon of Chorrol, one of the best Shields in the game. This shield can reflect damage back on the attacker, and scales extremely well.

The best answer to whether or not you should return the Honorblade of Chorrol is simple: Yes, you should return it, but not right away. The sword is extremely powerful early in the game, but players generally agree that once you have unlocked the Umbra sword, you should return the Honorblade and collect the Escutcheon of Chorrol.

If you want both items, it is possible to steal the Honoblade of Chorrol after it’s been returned. We found the best option is pickpocketing after using a Paralyze spell or Chameleon. Other options are too easy to mess up.
