Where to Find the Elytra in Minecraft
The Elytra is found exclusivelyin the End Cities, which can only be located once players have reached The End and defeated the Ender Dragon. The End City is a randomly generated biome found in the outer islands of The End, and to do that, players must first enter the End Gateway, which is the small portal between the Bedrock pillars that can be entered with an Ender Pearl.
The Elytra is only found within an item frame inside the End Ship, a structure found in the sky just above the End City. End Cities can be quite uncommon to find, so it’s advised to bring plenty of building blocks, food, and Ender Pearls to travel to The End. End Cities are found within chunks numbered 0-8 and multiples of 20, so try to search in even numbers for X, Y, and Z.
How to Repair and Enchant the Elytra in Minecraft
The Elytra will lose durability while players use them to fly, but there is a way to bring that durability back. There are a few ways to repair the Elytra, and two of them involve having multiple Elytras. With two damaged Elytras, players can use a Crafting Table, Grindstone, or Anvil to combine them and add to their total durability. If players do not have a second Elytra, then they can combine the Elytra and a Phantom Membrane at the Anvil to add durability. Phantom Membranes are acquired from killing Phantoms, which will spawn at nightif players have not slept in a bed for 3 days.
Using anything other than an Anvil will remove the enchantments on the Elytra
In order to actually enchant the Elytra, players will need to combine the Elytra with an Enchanted Book on the Anvil. There are only 2 useful Enchantments for the Elytra, so players will want to try and acquire the Mending and Unbreaking 3 Enchantment Books to combine and place on the Elytra for the best effects.
How to Effectively Use the Elytra in Minecraft
The Elytra is equipped from the chest armor slot, and they will activate once players jump while falling (Space Bar, X, A). The Elytra is best used from high up, as it provides players with enough room to glide down and gain momentum so that they can increase their speed. If players hit surfaces while flying the Elytra, they will take damage, and going too fast could cause them to die.
In order to gain more powerful flight so that players can reach greater heights and go much faster in the air without having to land, they are going to want to use Firework Rockets. When used, Firework Rockets propel the Elytra upwards with greater speed, making for a great resource of flight.
