Strong armor is required to survive the dangers of Ashenfall inRuneScape: Dragonwilds, andPadded Clothis required to craft some of the most protective pieces in the game. It’s fairly simple to make, but it requires a bunch of costly upgrades that can preventRuneScape: Dragonwildsplayers from replacing their early game gear as quickly as they’d like.

Padded Cloth is an enhanced version of the Rough Cloth and Wool Cloth that players can use to craft basic armor pieces and furniture inRuneScape: Dragonwilds, but players have to jump through a few hoops in order to unlock it. Getting Padded Cloth is the first real roadblock that players will encounter inRuneScape: Dragonwilds, since the necessary materials can only be harvested in difficult regions with deadly enemies. That said farming Padded Cloth becomes much easier once players use their initial haul tocraft some upgraded gear.

How to Get Padded Cloth in RuneScape: Dragonwilds

Padded Cloth is created by combining Wool Cloth and Rough Cloth in a Loom. A basic Loom only has a single input slot, though, so aLoom Harnessis also required. Building a Loom Harness requiresIron BarsandRam Hornsamong other basic ingredients, so players will have to brave theStormtouched Highlandsto mineIron Oreand venture deep into theFractured Plainsto hunt forRams.Ash Planksare also a required ingredient, so players also need to build aSawmillon top of everything else.

This is a lengthy process that can easily frustrate unprepared players since the required materials are only found in high-level biomes where it’s tough to defend oneself, but there are some easy ways to get a few pieces of Padded Cloth without delving too deep into these areas.

The main progression blocker for most players at this stage of the game is the Loom Harness, an upgrade for the Loom that allows it to process two materials at the same time.

The first step in creating a Loom Harness is smelting Iron Bars. Iron Ore deposits only appear in the Stormtouched Highlands west of the Fractured Plains. Thankfully, there are a bunch of ore veins right along the border of the two zones. With the help of the Rocksplosion spell, players can easily grab a bunch of Iron Ore without spending too much time being exposed to danger.Unlike Bronze Bars, Iron Bars only require Iron Ore and nothing else. The spot marked on the map below is the best place to farm Iron Ore.

With Iron Bars out of the way, the only real roadblock left is the Ram Horn requirement. While Sheep can be found in the Fractured Plains, Rams only appear in the Stormtouched Highlands. There are a bunch of Ram spawn locations near those Iron Ore deposits mentioned above, so players can knock out both of these requirements with a single trip. Once the Iron Ore is harvested, all players need to do is toss it in aFurnacefor smelting. Furnaces requireClayandCharcoal, which can easily befarmed in the nearby swamp area.

Once the necessary materials are collected and the Loom Harness is constructed, players can placeRough ClothandWool Clothinto the Loom at the same time to get Padded Cloth. Rough Cloth and Wool Cloth are made fromCoarse Animal FurandSoft Animal Furrespectively (orFlaxandFleecefor more efficient crafting), so that’s just another use for the scraps that players collect from slaying animals.RuneScape: Dragonwildsplayers should also considerupgrading their Tanneryat this stage of the game to unlock Hard Leather and craft even stronger armor pieces.
