Where to Find a Dried Ghast in Minecraft

In order to obtain the Happy Ghast, players will first need a Ghastling. Ghastlings are obtained from Dried Ghasts, which act as a solid block found in the Nether. Dried Ghasts can be instantly mined with any tool or hand, allowing players to pick them up and take them to the Overworld.Dried Ghasts are easily found near the bone structure fossils of the Soul Sand Valley in the Nether.

Alternatively, players can craft their own Dried Ghast with a Crafting Table, as long as they have 8 Ghast Tears and 1 Bone Block. Here’s what the Crafting Table needs to look like to craft a Dried Ghast:

How to Turn the Dried Ghast into a Ghastling in Minecraft

With a Dried Ghat acquired, it’s time to head back into the Overworld. With the Dried Ghast, players must now waterlog it for 20 minutes. Waterlogging is easily done by placing a Water Bucket on the same block as the Dried Ghast to submerge it in water. If players do not want a spill of water, then feel free to use fences, blocks, or doors to keep the water stationary.

After 20 minutes, the Dried Ghast will slowly develop a smile, and then it will emerge as a Ghastling, which is a far smaller and friendlier version than the Ghasts found within the Nether. While it might take some time for the Ghastling to mature into a Happy Ghast, players canspeed up the process by feeding it Snowballs.

How to Ride a Happy Ghast in Minecraft

In order to actually ride the Happy Ghast, players are going to need a Harness. The Harness is crafted with 3 Leather, 2 Glass, and any Wool block. Here’s a look at how this needs to be in your Crafting Table:

Glass

Once the Harness has been made with the resources required, players can interact with the Happy Ghast with the Harness in their hotbar to equip it. With the Harness now attached to the Happy Ghast, players will be able to sit on it and ride it in the sky, along with 3 other players, providing enough seating for 4 players in total.

The first player to sit on the Harness will control the direction of the Happy Ghast, and they can control the Happy Ghast to fly horizontally and vertically, allowing them to navigate through the air. While players can sit on the Happy Ghast, they can also keep it stationary and stand on top of it as if it were a solid block, allowing foran easier time to buildhigh up with the Happy Ghast acting as a useful aid.

The Harness can be removed by using the Shears on a Happy Ghast holding a Harness, which will then drop the Harness as an item. It’s also worth noting that the Harness’s color can change, depending on what Wool or Dye players use.

How Do Happy Ghasts Work in Minecraft?

Now that players have a matured Ghastling, it has become a large Happy Ghast. With the Happy Ghast, this mob will be entirely aimless and passive, and it won’t care about taking damage. To lure Happy Ghasts close, hold either a Harness or Snowballs, and they can be put on a leash. It’s worth noting that Happy Ghasts are designed to be a ridden mob, and they cannot shoot fireballs and will not attack other mobs.
