There’s a lot to discover inThe Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, but some of the game’s greatest secrets cannot be accessed during normal gameplay.Oblivion Remasteredhas a hidden testing room filled with a bunch of items, but players are actually searching for this developer room to find an in-game version of Todd Howard.
Developer rooms are nothing new in Bethesda RPGs, but the testing room inOblivion Remasteredis special because it’s home to NPCs that players can use to test out the persuasion and disposition systems. One of these NPCs isvoiced by Bethesda’s own Todd Howard, who read dialogue lines for testing purposes during development. Todd Howard is still present in the remastered version of the game, soOblivion Remasteredplayers can bask in the glory of an all-new overhauled version of that NPC.
How to Access the Oblivion Remastered Testing Room
TheOblivion Remastereddeveloper room is only available viaconsole commands, so this method only works on the PC version of the game. Unfortunately, console players have to sit this one out. The testing room inOblivion Remasteredis typically accessed with the console command “coc testinghall,” but the room with Todd Howard is accessed with the console command “coc toddtest.”
This console command instantly teleports players to a different room with some chests, two women, and an armored NPC by the name ofAlban Corinis. This room is where players can find Todd Howard and hear the wonderful voice lines he recorded forOblivion.
How to Find Todd Howard in Oblivion Remastered
Todd Howard voices the NPC Alban Corinis inOblivion Remastered’s testing hall. This NPC uses one of the default male voices for some of its lines, but any of the emotional responses that the player can select during dialogue with Alban Corinis are voiced by Todd Howard himself.
These are the only voice lines that Todd Howard recorded forOblivion, so players shouldn’t expect to hear him anywhere else in Cyrodiil. He’s very busy working onupcoming Bethesda RPGs, after all. There’s not much else of note in this developer room except forTodd’s Barrel of Fun, which has a few testing items and a blank book filled with sample text.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remasteredis filled with a bunch of quirks that make the game feel more unique compared to other Bethesda RPGs, and being able to hear Todd Howard’s voice in-game is certainly one of them. Thecrazy spellcraftng systemis another one of the game’s highlights as well.
