Every entry in theMonster Hunterseries comes with a flagship monster that covers the game’s art, marketing, and gives players a look at who they will be fighting their way towards during the story. InMonster Hunter Wilds,that monster is the Guardian Arkveld, an artificial and deadly version of the Arkveld that comes into play as players progress through the narrative.
Being the flagship creature and boasting a unique name, the Guardian Arkveld is not to be looked over in any way. It has some powerful attacks, will viciously lash out at players at all times, and takes some good planning to prepare players for success. Fortunately, players can prepare for this fight through understanding the weaknesses of the monster, the best weapons to use, andwhat to expect when fighting.
Monster Hunter Wilds: Guardian Arkveld Weaknesses
As is the casewith its standard variant, the Guardian Arkveldis going to absorb elemental damagethat players inflict upon it. As it absorbs this elemental damage, it will eventually become Empowered. This will allow it to use two more chainblades and deal Dragon damage with its attacks.

Because of this, it is recommended for players to opt for weapons thatdeal strictly Physical damage, such as those found on the Bone Tree. This will help stop the Guardian Arkveld from being able to empower itself and keep it at a more reasonable level. However, if players want to use Elemental damage,Guardian Arkveld is most susceptible to Dragon, although it’s by a small amount. Again, focusing on Physical damage is recommended.
In terms of weakpoints to target on its body, the Guardian Arkveldis weakest on its Head, Tail, and the Chainblades.The Head and Tail aregoing to be the parts that are vulnerable to Dragon damage; the Chainblades are completely immune to this.
Despite it being a weakpoint, it is strongly recommended to try andavoid the Guardian Arkveld’s headduring the battle. In order to get hits in on this part, players will have to get in close to the creature, right in front of it, and that opens them up to a lot of damage and attacks.

The Guardian Arkveld can only be foundin one locationduring a specific mission of the main story. Although it will first appear in the “The Faithful Keepers"main story quest, playerswon’t start to fight it until “Broken Chains.”
Because it is relegated to this one quest,there are no High Rank Guardian Arkveldsat the time of writing.
Thefight takes place in the Ruins of Wyveria biome, which players will access later on in the story. The monster can roam amongthe many sections of this biome,so players can expect to do some chasing during the fight, as usual.
