The world ofAtomfallcan be violent and scary. There are all sorts of threats that can wipe you out before you may finish investigating the mysteries of the quarantine zone. To stay alive, you’ll need to arm yourself with the best weapons and study the enemies to know how to take them all down.
There are several different kinds of enemies inAtomfall. Some will be simple to deal with, while others may be a bit complicated to get past. This guide will show you all the enemies in the game and how to defeat them all.
How To Beat Human Enemies In Atomfall
There are three enemy factions inAtomfallthat will be armed with different kinds of weapons. The very first of these factions will beoutlaws. These enemies will mostly control the Slatten Dale region, although they can pop up in Casterfell Woods, Skethermoor, and The Interchange. They’ll be dressed in outlandish outfits with feathers, red and white facepaint, and various goofy hats. They will either be armed with rusty pistols, shotguns, and rifles, or melee weapons like cricket bats. Some will just attack you with their bare fists.
Then there aredruids, which mainly stick to Casterfell Woods. Most druids will attack you with sharp melee weapons like hatchets or sickles. There will be certain druids who wear leather helmets that will be armed with axes and hit the hardest. Druids won’t use firearms as they hate technology. However, some druids wearing a mask made of straw will be armed with bows. They’ll pepper you with arrows, which can do just as much damage as bullets.
The last human faction isThe Protocol, a militaristic unit that possesses the most firepower out of everyone. You’ll run across these guys in Wyndham Village, Casterfell Woods, and The Interchange, but you’ll find them most commonly in Skethermoor. These soldiers will have stock-level guns like assault rifles, bolt-action sniper rifles, SMGs, and light machine guns. Those who aren’t packing heat will attack you with strong melee weapons like police truncheons or heavy survival knives. Some Protocol soldiers will be wearing armor, although it doesn’t seem like that makes them any harder to kill.
The Protocol soldiers tend to have the best gear, so be sure to loot their corpses for better weapons and ammo.
When it comes to human enemies, the best strategy is to aim for the head.A pistol or rifle shot to the cranium will usually take any human enemy out almost instantly. If you have a bow, a headshot with an arrow will usually be more than enough to kill them. You can also sneak up on human enemies and perform astealth takedown. If all else fails, melee strikes or throwable weapons like molotov cocktails are quite effective against harmful humans.
How To Beat Swarms In Atomfall
The majority of the flora and fauna of the quarantine zone have turned hostile and will come after you if you intrude on their territory. Most of these enemies will attack you in swarms, which means you’ll have to fight off a bunch of critters all at once.
The rivers ofAtomfallare often filled withleeches, which will appear out of the water and bite you. If they do enough damage they can inflict the bleeding status. Not every water source will have leeches, but it’s better to be safe and try to avoid staying in water for too long.
Ratswill attack you in hordes if you’re near one of their nests. They can pop up in most places, although they’ll usually be in underground areas like bunkers and cellars.Their bites will inflict poison buildup, which makes them quite a nuisance. You can stop them from respawning bylooking for their nests and destroying them.
Finally, there are flying enemies likebats, crows, and bees.Bats will usually be in caves or at the top of St. Katherine’s Church in Wyndham Village. Crows will mostly attack you while wandering the fields of Skethermoor. Bees won’t attack unless you get too close to theirhives, which are big, purple, and hang from trees. If you do get near a hive, large bees will immediately swarm you.
When it comes to swarming enemies, it’s best toequip a melee weapon and start swinging.A quick melee weapon like a knife is best against swarms, although larger weapons like cricket bats will do the trick. If you’re able to find the recipe forExplosive Lures, those will also be effective in eliminating multiple small enemies.
How To Beat Infected Enemies In Atomfall
The quarantine zone was set up due to the infection that spread after the incident at the Windfall Plant. Many enemies have been infected giving them a strange blue hue to their skin.
The only way to cure infection is by consumingStrange Tonics.you may find the crafting recipe inside the castle at the Druids' Camp in Casterfell Woods.
The first kind of infected enemy you may come across areFerals. These are essentially the zombies ofAtomfall’sworld. They sit hunched over while enshrouded by infected plant life and won’t become aggressive unless you alert them by coming too close or making too much noise. They’ll attack by either striking you with their claw-like hands or spitting gobs of blue spit, which will quickly build up your infection meter. If you may deal with Ferals quietly, then you can avoid other Ferals waking up and overwhelming you. The best option for putting them down is touse a bow and head-shot them with arrows.
Thrallsare similar to Ferals, although they’re much tougher. You’ll usually find these enemies in late-game areas in The Interchange or areas high in infected blue mist. They are typically dressed in hazmat suits or security uniforms with gas masks. They won’t attack until they’ve spotted you, and other Thralls will be attracted to fights if you make too much noise. If you can sneak up behind them, you can perform a stealth takedown.Otherwise, avoid a close-range fight with Thralls. Their strikes are very strong and can inflict infection build-up. Headshots won’t immediately kill them, butyou should still aim for the head and pump them full of bullets.
How to Beat B.A.R.D. Robots In Atomfall
The most dangerous enemy inAtomfallis almost certainly theB.A.R.D. Robot. The standard B.A.R.D. Robot will look like a retro sci-fi robot with a metal body and a glass dome for a head. One of their arms will have amachine gunattached, which can melt your health bar away with only a few shots. Their armored body can absorb plenty of bullets, but they’re not invincible. All you need to do isaim for the robot’s glass dome and blast it with bullets. This will break the glass and destroy the sensors inside causing the robot to smoke and catch fire.
There is an alterative form of the B.A.R.D. Robot that will have aflamethrowerinstead of a machine gun. This weapon won’t have the range of a machine gun, but it can still kill you quickly and inflict theburnstatus. This variation doesn’t have a glass dome and its head will be protected by a thick layer of armor. Its weakness will be the red fuel tanks that are attached to its body. There should be two on its back and one on its flamethrower arm. Shoot these to blow them up.
When you damage a B.A.R.D. Robot, it’ll overheat and theAtomic Batterythat powers it will be vented out its back. To completely destroy these robots, you need to get behind themandremove the battery. You’ll have to do this quickly since the battery will automatically re-insert itself back into the robot if you take too long. Do that, and you’ll defeat the robot and score a free Atomic Battery.
