The Shivering Islesis the second main story DLC included from the original release that is now included inOblivion Remastered. This legendary story expansion has long been considered one of the greatest ever made, and its inclusion here will only serve to solidify its position. The Shivering Islesis generally considered to be the late-game DLC that players should undertake once they have completed the main story, though this is not required. Whether you are a new player visiting the isles for the first time, or a longtime fan looking for a refresher, this guide will show youhow to startThe Shivering IslesDLC inOblivion Remastered.

How to Start The Shivering Isles DLC in Oblivion Remastered

Complete the Tutorial:

While many players recommend waiting until you’ve completed the main story tobeginThe Shivering IslesDLC, it seems that the only actual requirement for starting this story expansion inOblivion Remasteredis completing the game’s opening tutorial. However, just because youcanstart it that early, doesn’t mean you should.

While you absolutely can – and likely should – start and complete theKnights of the NineDLCbefore completing the main quest, it is worth waiting until your character is well-developed before having your fateful meeting with Haskill at the Strange Door.

Visit the Strange Door:

In the original version ofOblivion, players had to let 24 in-game hours pass after completing the tutorial before they could access theStrange Door, and the “A Door in Niben Bay” quest. We assumed that would carry over, and used the time-passing mechanic in the game to do so.

Once you’ve completed the opening tutorial, you’ll need to head to the Strange Door island in Niben Bay, which is located off the east coast ofThe Heartlands. The nearest town isBravil, which is the bestfast-travel destination.

After exiting the gates of Bravil into the Heartlands, you can easily swim to the island in the center of the bay. You can see the head-shaped rock that marks the Strange Door. As you approach the door, the “A Door in Niben Bay” quest will automatically start.

Speak to the NPCs that are standing in front of the portal at the Strange Door. Shortly after doing so, an enemy should emerge and begin attackingGaius Prentus.Speak to him again after the attack to move the quest forward.

Enter the Portal at the Strange Door:

Once you’ve exhausted all dialogue, enter the portal at the Strange Door. Inside, you’ll meet a strange NPC named Haskill. He’ll give you a rundown of what theShivering IslesDLCwill entail.

After Haskill gives you his pitch, he will tell you to think it over and return to him when you are ready. You can either speak to him right away, or come back later when you are better prepared. If and when you agree to beSheogorath’s mortal champion, there will be an amazing visual sequence as the surrounding structure disappears.
