The massive changes to Cipher’s numbers may serve to shift discussion away from the character serving as a team’s main damage unit.Cipher’s new changes could push herinto a more “sub-DPS”-oriented role withinHonkai: Star Railteams, potentially in teams built around characters already focused on Follow-Up Attacks. The damage nerfs will also likely make Cipher a less ideal pair on teams with characters like Acheron and Feixiao, who already have strong options for teammates. Cipher is expected to release during the second half of Version 3.3, launching on May 20.
Cipher’s reduced damage output could look to create more competition between the new Quantum character and Version 3.3’s rumored re-runs. The next update toHonkai: Star Railis expected to welcome re-run banners for the first two Amphoreus characters, with both The Herta and Aglaea returning to the gacha banner. Both The Herta andAglaea have been popular choicesfor many teams since their debut, with each considered among the game’s strongest DPS characters. Version 3.3 looks to have a stacked lineup of featured characters on the way within just a few weeks.
