Summary

In the magical world of Harry Potter, not all spells are created equal, and the same goes for talents inHogwarts Legacy. The game offers 48 unique talents to help players shape their witch or wizard, but with only 36 talent points available, every choice matters.

Whether they’re underpowered, overly situational, or made redundant by other spells, certain talents are better left untouched. While some might seem useful at first glance, they often fail to live up to expectations. With that in mind, here’s a breakdown of the worst talents inHogwarts Legacythat most players are better off avoiding.

Improves The Depulso Spell

6Depulso Mastery

Improves The Depulso Spell

Depulso is certainly a fun spell, and the visuals of knocking back multiple enemies at once really give the player a sense of power. However, it only truly shines in tight spaces with multiple enemies, or when near sheer drops and water, where players can push opponents to their deaths.

The Depulso spell is too situational for its mastery to be worth a talent point, especially when other similar spells deal much more damage. If the spell dealt a bit more damage, it would be more useful, but as it stands, it’s often outclassed by other options and only comes in handy in specific environments.

Makes It Easier To Sneak Past Enemies

5Sense of Secrecy 1

Makes It Easier To Sneak Past Enemies

Unless players are going deep into a stealth build, Sense of Secrecy 1 is a talent that should probably be avoided. Sense of Secrecy 1 reduces the enemy’s ability to detect the player. While this may seem useful early on, as players progress, they get better at stealth and can easily bypass enemies without being detected.

With that said, most of the other Stealth talents, aside fromPetrificus TotalusMastery, should probably be avoided as well. Human Demiguise can be somewhat useful for well-rounded players, but it also doesn’t hold up long-term. Unless the stealth mechanics in the game are updated or stealth becomes more crucial, the Stealth talents, especially Sense of Secrecy 1, aren’t the best choices for most players.

Hogwarts Legacy

4Curse Sapper

Heals The Player When Defeating Cursed Enemies

Curse Sapper restores a portion of the player’s health when they defeat a cursed opponent. While this may seem like a useful talent, by the time players unlock it at level 22, it’s not very useful. By this point in the game, players should have a decent amount of gear and spells unlocked, which reduces the need for this talent.

Had Curse Sapper been available at level 5, it could have been one of the most useful talents in the game, as the player is much weaker at the start. However, in the later levels, most enemies become more of a nuisance than a threat. A talent that restores health only when defeating cursed enemies becomes less useful than many other talents at the player’s disposal.

Hogwarts Legacy Edurus Potion

3Edurus Potion Potency

Only Useful At Lower Levels

The Edurus Potion is one of the more unique potions inHogwarts Legacy. It makes the player invulnerable while deflecting enemy projectiles. While this may seem like a great potion, considering that dodging and blocking are key parts of the gameplay, most players won’t actually need to use the potion at all.

Seasoned players will have no problem blocking or dodging enemy attacks while dishing out their own, making the Edurus Potion somewhat pointless. That said, for newer or weaker players, the potion might have some use. However, it can make the game a little too easyat times, and the talent point could be better spent elsewhere.

Slowing Curse hogwarts legacy

2Slowing Curse

Improves The Spell Arresto Momentum

For players using the Dark Arts talent tree, Slowing Curse is a talent they’ll probably want to skip. It’s just not that useful. While having an extra spell to curse opponents can be helpful and definitely works with certain builds or combos, but on its own, Slowing Curse isn’t worth it.

Other spells like Glacius outclass Arresto Momentum, so spending a precious talent point to improve Arresto Momentum is not the best idea. Of course, it will work in certain builds, especially those centered around the Dark Arts, but for more well-rounded players, a talent point would be better spent elsewhere.

RevelioHogwarts Legacy

1Revelio Mastery

Increase The Range Of Revelio

The Revelio Mastery talent increases the range of the spell Revelio. While it may be useful for players who aren’t as eagle-eyed, for the average player, it’s a waste of a talent point. The standard Revelio reveals enough for most players without the need for the extra range.

Players who are not using theDark Artstree may have an extra 10 talent points to allocate. Therefore, Revelio Mastery might not be a terrible choice for these players, especially if they use Revelio often. However, it’s still better to avoid it, as that talent point could be better spent elsewhere.
