But, upon release, fans were blown away by what Avalanche was able to achieve with the IP, and now, all eyes are on what the studio plans to do next with it.
Hogwarts Legacyended up being a massive success, so naturally players started discussing where the studio could take the concept next. There were many calls for DLC to expand various aspects of the game, with some players really pushing foradditions such as Quidditch. It seemed like the studio was going to deliver on that potential as rumors circulated about upcoming post-launch content. However, new rumors suggest that the planned DLC has been scrapped in favor of the sequel, even though it really should not have been.

There is Still So Much Avalanche Could Do With Hogwarts Legacy
Hogwarts Legacysuccessfully delivered the experienceHarry Potterfans had been waiting years for. They were able to live out their story withinthe halls of Hogwarts, explore a massive open-world that felt ripped straight from the pages of the novels, and immerse themselves in everything that the franchise has to offer. It really felt like a love letter to the entire IP, with many never wanting to leave its halls. Because of that, it also felt like it built great foundations that could be expanded upon for years to come.
Not only could Avalanche expand the story with all sorts of new adventures, but it could also inject countless new mechanics into the mix. For starters, Quidditch would have been the perfect addition to the game, as a centerpiece of Hogwarts life. Outside of that, there were more classes that could be introduced, new spells that players could run wild with, and a whole host of new fantastic beasts just waiting to be met. No matter where Avalanche would have turned in the Wizarding World, there was something thatcould be added to Hogwarts Legacy. However, all signs suggest that potential will never be realized – at least for the first game.
Avalanche Has Seemingly Moved On to the Next Game
Even though nothing was ever officially announced, rumors circulated that Avalanche was hard-at-work on some type of DLC alongside a fully-fledged sequel. It seems like that sequel will still come to fruition, buttheHogwarts LegacyDLC has reportedly been canceledby Warner Bros. along with a definitive edition of the game. Allegedly, the size of the content was not substantial enough to justify the price and the studio has now shifted its focus, with the sequel being one of Warner Bros.' biggest priorities.
While there is a ton of potential for a sequel totakeHogwarts Legacyto new heights, it is a shame that it seems to be coming at the expense of post-launch support for the original game. With the massive success of that title, it seemed only natural to expand upon it for a little while. But now that it seems like the studio has no plans to, hopefully the sequel helps justify that shift in direction, and that whatever this DLC entailed can live on in that next chapter.
