George R.R. Martin Doesn’t Need To Be Hounded By Fans
People Aren’t Letting Up On This Situation
Game of Thronesfans are extremely passionate, and that’s one of the reasons why the franchise has thrived so much. People are hooked on the books that Martin has put together and aredesperate forThe Winds of Winterto complete that set. However, they are often so persistent that it clearly annoys the author, and it’s easy to see why. While some fans will ask questions in a polite manner, the amount of vile abuse Martin receives online at times for not having this story told yet is astounding and unacceptable. Nobody should be treated in the manner that Martin has been over the release of a book, but it appears people aren’t going to relent on the situation despite him not owing them anything.
George R.R. Martin Is Evidently Struggling With The Winds Of Winter
The Game Of Thrones Author Labeled It A ‘Curse’
Writing theGame of Thronesserieshas obviously changed Martin’s life for the better and has taken him to a level of fame and fortune that his other work hasn’t done. This was already the case due to the quality of his writing, but the television show’s success only took things to a new level. However, that doesn’t mean he has to constantly be attached toGame of Thrones, as it’s clear that he has other projects and priorities that he wants to work on ahead ofThe Winds of Winter. It isn’t as if he has been sitting on this one story throughout the past decade and hasn’t done any other work. Martin has been exceptionally busy, and theGame of Thronestelevision series being thrown into the mix likely didn’t help matters when it came to his workload.
Martin has always been extremely open with fans and knowsThe Winds of Winteris extremely late. The author doesn’t need to do that, but he constantly updates people so they know he’s still working on it. Martin has slowly been chipping away at what will likely be a very long and highly complex story, and it’s clear that he’s struggling to complete it at the standard of his predecessors. That’s perfectly acceptable as well, and the quicker people come to terms with that, the better. He isn’t going to rush things to appeal to the masses, as that has never been how Martin works. The constant badgering from ‘supporters’ is likely doing the opposite, slowing his progress and making the situation even harder.
Game Of Thrones Fans Have Already Been Given The Ending
Fans Know What’s Going To Happen In The Winds Of Winter
Ultimately,Game of Thronesfans know how the story will end. Therefore, the need for this book to be finished has decreased dramatically. The final season ofGame of Throneswasn’t just something the writers made up at a whim, as Martin was heavily involved in giving them the answers to how this story is wrapped up, even without the series being complete. It might have been an imperfect version of the story in the eyes of many, and it is never going to provide the same detail andfeeling thatThe Winds of Winterwilldo, but the story has technically been told. Fans don’t need to pester Martin about the situation in terms of wanting to know how it ends because the entire world is aware of it.
The fact that he has revealed the ending toGame of Thronesis also potentially slowing him down. The need to get the story out and tell it to reveal all the answers isn’t there like it would be for most authors. Everyone knows, so there’s no need for him to rush. However, the massively negative reactions to thefinal season ofGame of Thronesalso won’t be helping matters because the support that was once overwhelming certainly changed after the final season. Whether it’s a case of Martin trying to tweak certain things that the show highlighted as a problem or because the negativity is proving too much, it’s evident that Martin isn’t going to rush this. That is absolutely fine, as it’s his prerogative, and hopefully,Game of Thronesfans will now stop pestering Martin aboutThe Winds of Winterand simply wait it out.
