Fans of the highly anticipated shooter got some bad news prior to the game’s launch as NetEase announced that theconsole versions ofFragPunkwere being delayed. Unfortunately, technical issues with the optimization and adaptation process were discovered during the compliance tests, and not wanting to release a subpar product, the decision was made to just delay it and only launch the PC version. Thankfully, the wait is finally coming to an end as the console version is now right around the corner.

Overall,FragPunkwill finally launch on consoles just under 2 months since the PC version dropped. While being away from a live service game would normally mean players miss out on a lot of content, that won’t be the case here.FragPunkpreviously revealed compensation plans for players, eventually making pre-order bonuses available and $10 in currency for those who did preorder. In addition, console players will also be getting all player engagement rewards earned duringFragPunk’s first season.

It’s clear that Bad Guitar and NetEase have long-term plans forFragPunk, with the hope that the game can continue to evolve with new content over time. Newupdates have been released forFragPunksince it launched, but the developer plans to continue adding new content like game modes, Lancers, and cards to keep gameplay feeling fresh. Season 1 offers some casual style modes, including an infection-style mode called Outbreak. Better yet, players who want to switch platforms can do so as cross-progression and cross-play will be supported.
Even with all of the launch excitement on PC, it hasn’t all been smooth sailing. Players were initiallyfrustrated byFragPunk’s heavy reliance on microtransactions, which not only feature cosmetics, but launched with 9 different currencies as well as two different subscription and membership systems. While this style of monetization is common for free-to-play titles as a way to generate profit, players have feltFragPunktakes this too far with the amount of premium content being offered.
