Summary
The Death Star is coming toFortnite, and fans might have an idea about what the infamousStar Warsbattle station will look like when it arrives. The world ofFortnitehas been threatened by all-destroying phenomena in the past, such as Marvel’s planet-devouring villain Galactus in Chapter 2 Season 3. Now, the Galactic Empire’s greatest weapon will lock its targeting computers on the Island as part of an upcomingStar Warscrossover season.
This newest crossover betweenFortniteandStar Warswas announced during Star Wars Celebration Japan last weekend, which featured big reveals for upcomingStar Warsgaming projects and other media. Titled Galactic Battle, this season will add new playable skins of legendary Jedi master Mace Windu andthe dreaded Darth Jar Jar- the latter based on the popular fan theory that Jar Jar Binks was actually the mastermind of the Sith’s takeover of the Republic the whole time. There will even be an appearance by the Death Star, the nefarious super weapon that first terrorized theatergoers inStar Wars Episode 4: A New Hope.
Somefans think they have already seen traces of theDeath Star looming above theFortniteIsland, and noted leakerShiinaBRthinks they have a good idea of how it will eventually look when it gets within firing range. They recently shared what looks like a leaked image fromSpushFNBRandKPMisParrotshowing the Death Star hanging ominously in the sky above the Island. Indeed, the large, sphere-shaped object looks like the legendary battle station, complete with its signature superlaser array.

WhileFortnitehas featured many cosmetics from theStar Warsfranchise (not to mention amessage from Emperor Palpatineahead of his surprise return inThe Rise of Skywalkerback in 2019), this will likely be Epic’s biggest crossover with the Galaxy Far, Far, Away yet. The festivities will kick off on May 2 and run all the way into June, with the last major event possibly being centered around an effort to sabotage the Death Star before it can reduce the Island to space dust with its powerful superlaser.
The Death Star will apparently make its way to the Island slowlyduring the Galactic Battle season, growing ever larger as it draws closer to its doomed destination. While it does,Fortniteplayers should prepare themselves for the arrival of the armed and fully operational battle station that once served as the ultimate symbol of the Empire’s tyranny, at least until Luke Skywalker heroically destroyed it with a one-in-a-million proton torpedo shot at the end of the originalStar Warsmovie.
