Summary

About a week ago, Blumhouse CEOJason Blum promised an exciting updatefor one of Blumhouse’s most anticipatedhorrorsequels:Five Nights at Freddy’s 2. Blum gave a presentation at CinemaCon on April 2nd, 2025 and screened a teaser trailer for the movie. He also posted the trailer on his X account and told audiences, “The firstFive Nights at Freddy’swas Blumhouse’s biggest hit."

Five Nights at Freddy’s 2will bereleased in theaters on December 5th, 2025,which is a big change from the first movie, which opened in theaters and was also available on Peacock on October 27th, 2023. The sequel willbring back cast members Elizabeth Lail, Josh Hutcherson, Piper Lail, andMatthew Lillard, who will play William Afton again. After seeing the teaser trailer, I’m even more intrigued by the sequel, and I like one specific part the most.

The Five Nights At Freddy’s 2 Trailer Shows The Animatronics Outside Of Freddy’s Fazbear’s Pizzeria

On April 2nd, 2025,Jason Blum posted theFive Nights at Freddy’s 2trailer on Xand wrote:

“I’m a man of my word.”

Fans thought that Blum would post some images of the sequel or a trailer, and the trailer was definitely worth the wait. TheFive Nights at Freddy’s 2teaser trailer shows a huge and thrilling change: this time, the animatronics are out in the worldand not just at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria. As a countdown begins, Vanessa Shelly-Afton (Elizabeth Lail) tells Mike Schmidt (Josh Hutcherson),“They’re out there, Mike.” When he asks, “Where?” she replies, “Everywhere.”

I think this isa perfect change that will take the sequel in a fun new direction. Afterthe ending ofFive Nights at Freddy’s 2, fans wondered what would happen to the animatronics next, and now it’s clear they’re an bigger threat since they’re not confined tothe movie’s main setting. I’m excited to see the pizzeria again since it’s such an unforgettable setting and no one would expect the animatronics to come to life. However, I like that the sequel is switching things up.

A horror sequel’s biggest challenge is to take artistic risks while satisfying fans who want to see certain familiar elements from the first movie. From the teaser trailer, it looks likeFive Nights at Freddy’s 2has found the perfect balance of satisfyingfans of the video gameswhile telling a new story. I’m particularly interested in seeing the scene shown in the trailer ofan animatronic showing up at a school.

The originalFive Nights at Freddy’smovie went through many changes ever since Blumhouse purchased the rights to adapt the beloved video game in 2017. According toIGN.com, Blum said the “structure” of the story took “six or seven years.” Chris Columbus was the first director who was hired, but that didn’t work out. Emma Tammi was then brought on as director, and she is also directing the sequel. All the hard work paid off asFive Nights at Freddy’swas an entertaining adaptation with a great twist at the end. I look forward to seeingthe havoc and destruction the animatronics will causeinFive Nights at Freddy’s 2.
