Summary
Cloud Strife’s English voice actor just hinted that recording forFinal Fantasy 7 Remake’s next sequel might already be underway. So far, Square Enix’s modernFinal Fantasy 7update has been released as a series of games, with last year’sFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirthcovering the party’s journey outside of Midgar and ending shortly after the fateful trip to the Temple of the Ancients. The third installment of theFinal Fantasy 7 Remakeseries is expected to cover the rest of the original storyline, which is still regarded among many fans as one of the best in the series.
There is still no word on when fans can expect to play the thirdFinal Fantasy 7 Remakegame, though members of the development team have indicated that progress is moving along nicely. Late last year,Final Fantasy 7 Rebirthproducer Yoshinori Kitaseand director Naoki Hamaguchi confirmed that the story of the next installment has already been locked in, with pre-production work beginning around June 2022. Hamaguchi also said that he is satisfied with how the development cycle is progressing and that there haven’t been any significant setbacks so far.
Another encouraging sign recently came from Cody Christian, the English voice actor for Cloud Strife in theFinal Fantasy 7 Remakeseries. In a now-deleted Instagram post (as reported byGamesRadar+), Christian is shown wearing a pair of headphones in a recording booth with a caption that reads “so happy to be back with my bestie.” There was also a miniature graphic of Cloud in the post, so many fans are assuming that he is now recording for thethirdFinal Fantasy 7 Remakegameor at least a project with Cloud in it.
Cloud’s English Actor May Already Be Recording Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3
If Cody Christian is indeed recording for thenextFinal Fantasy 7 Remakegame, then it might be even further along in development than fans previously thought. Voice acting is usually recorded near the end of a game’s production cycle to avoid plot details being leaked online or to account for changes that would require dialogue to be redone.
There is also the chance that Christian’s post pertains to anotherFinal Fantasy-related project likethe upcomingKingdom Hearts 4, or the Cloud image could just have been meant to throw people off as he works on something else entirely. In any case, many fans are looking forward to hearing Cody Christian as Cloud in the nextFinal Fantasy 7 Remakegame, especially since the last entry ended on a major cliffhanger with serious ramifications for the spikey-haired, Buster Sword-wielding hero.
