Summary

On April 22, Square Enix releasedFinal Fantasy 14Patch 7.21, which included the highly anticipated Cosmic Exploration feature for crafting and gathering classes to participate in.Final Fantasy 14Patch 7.21 also made a noticeable adjustment to the Recollection trial and fixed a few lingering issues with some facets of the game.

Like the Ishgard Restoration feature from theShadowbringersexpansion, Cosmic Exploration allowsFinal Fantasy 14players toquickly level any crafting or gathering jobs, such as Culinarian and Fisher. After completing the main story quest “Endwalker” from Patch 6.0,Final Fantasy 14players can unlock Cosmic Exploration by speaking to a red-robed Loporrit named Namingway in Old Sharlayan. Although players will start on the moon of Etheirys, which was previously explored duringEndwalker, Cosmic Exploration will add up to three more planets for players to travel to in subsequent Dawntrail patches once the lunar base is established.

Final Fantasy 14Patch 7.21 requires approximately 874 MB of additional storage space on PC. Once unlocked,Final Fantasy 14players will travel to a region of Mare Lamentorum called Sinus Ardorum, their new Cosmic Exploration base of operations.Final Fantasy 14players participating in Cosmic Exploration missions of varying difficulties will earn Cosmocredits and Lunar Credits. The former can be exchanged for goods such as gear and housing items, while the latter allows players to draw cosmic fortunes for a chance at other cosmetic rewards. These rewards include additional dyes that can take advantage ofFinal Fantasy 14’s expanded dye system.

Some new dye colors introduced in Patch 7.21 include Violet Purple, Neon Pink, and Metallic Ruby Red. These dyes may also be bought and sold on the market board for Gil, though initial prices may fluctuate as more players participate in Cosmic Exploration.Final Fantasy 14Patch 7.21 also made a few changes in response to player feedback.

The Recollection trialintroduced in Patch 7.2’s main storysaw an update to the “Magic Sigil” mechanic, as the spell’s colors made it initially difficult to see. In Patch 7.21, Magic Sigil’s contrast has been adjusted, so players may have an easier time spotting them. The Echo buff has also been added to the Arcadion Light-Heavyweight savage raid tier, increasing player HP, damage, and healing by 10% while it is active.

Between Cosmic Exploration and the ongoing Callback Campaign, now is one of the best times fornew and returningFinal Fantasy 14players to enjoy different activities. Only time will tell how many players will experience Cosmic Exploration.
