Summary
Ubisoft shared the patch notes for its latestThe Division 2PTS update, offering a detailed breakdown of everything that’s coming in Year 7 Season 1. Players can already try this experimental build ofThe Division 2, but only for a limited time.
Ubisoft’s post-apocalyptic looter shooter is pushing seven nowadays, and its updates are no longer as large or frequent as they were during its heyday.TheDivision 2’s next DLC was also hit with a delayback in January, missing out on its original Year 6 launch window. Developer Massive Entertainment at last showcased the upcoming expansion during an April 23 game showcase, which also included the first look at the game’s next season.
Shortly after thelatestThe Division 2showcasewrapped up, the looter shooter received a new beta update, which reached its Public Test Server (PTS) instance on April 25, at 4am PT / 7am ET / 1pm CET. This release essentially serves as a preview of Y7S1, whose global modifier is called Hard-Core. The modifier grants three types of bonuses, covering Firearms, Stamina, and Electronics. The total buff for each bonus depends on the player’s Gear Cores—those little “+1 Weapon/Armor/Skill Tier” attributes that can be seen on some equipment pieces.
As per usual, higher Gear Core ratings allow for bigger bonuses that make for stronger builds. The type of bonuses and gear required to activate them vary by season, with the overall goal being to encourage experimentation, incentivizingThe Division 2playersto move away from meta builds by offering completely different options that are just as powerful—if only temporarily. For Y7S1, a Tier 5 Firearms bonus will instantly refill all ammo, whereas a maximum Stamina bonus will do the same for Armor Kits. Meanwhile, a Tier 5 Electronics bonus dramatically ups the rate of skill cooldown reduction when using skills.
Five Active Modifiers are also part ofThe Division 2’s new season, offering a way for players to spend their score bonus in exchange for a significant temporary boost, which is a way to reward those willing to grind. Meanwhile, the season’s Passive Modifiers are tied to current Attribute Tiers, so they can reset or lose power after the player acquires an Active Modifier. The PTS update also debuts Hostile Countermeasures, a new type of enemy buff denoted by Marks. Enemies can spawn with up to three unique Marks, boosting their Stamina, Electronics, and Firearms skills. The reward for taking down these powerful foes are Score Points equivalent to their Marks.
The Y7S1 PTS update will be available until April 28, at 4am PT / 7am ET / 1pm CET. The patch is around 100 GB in size with the PTS client, or 17 GB if the game’s beta build is already installed via Ubisoft Connect.
