There’s a lot of anticipation and excitement within theDestiny 2community as of late. After some initial concerns over the game following theMarathongameplay reveal, Bungie confirmed thenextDestiny 2expansion as The Edge of Fate, which is the start of the upcoming Codename: Frontiers era. Better yet, Bungie will be revealing Edge of Fate in a new livestream, set for May 6. In the meantime, Bungie continues to update the core game for those still playing the current episode.
Bungie released a new update forDestiny 2, making a major change to the Court of Blades activity. Recently, players have been providing Bungie ample feedback onDestiny 2’s Court of Blades activity, specifically about the Lucent Hive being harder than other boss characters in the Expert rotator. In response, Bungie has reduced the health of Lucent Hive Guardian bosses and disabled their supers until they’re below 33% health, while Lucent Hive knights have been outright removed from the randomized fodder selection on Expert to prevent unintended difficulty spikes.
Alongside the COurt of Blade change, Bungie also fixed a couple of issues with Rocket Sidearms and Support Frame Auto Rifles, with the former now being able to self-damage the user again, and the latter having their intrinsic elemental effects applied duringDestiny 2’s Sundered Doctrine’s second encounteronce again.
As Bungie transitions to a full-time two-game studio, there are some fans concerned that the divided attention between two live-service games may ultimately hurtDestiny 2’s future. Since the reveal, Marathon game director Joe Ziegler has continued to clarify thatBungie isn’t replacingDestiny 2and the game has a future. Thankfully, that has proven true with Bungie’s announcement of The Edge of Fate days later, signaling the start of a new era for the long-running title.
