After learning the Water Breathing style and dealing with his fair share of demons, Tanjiro faces his first real test in the form of the Temari and Arrow Demons. Both Susamaru and Yahaba are tough opponents who would’ve taken Tanjiro out at this point, but he had backup in the form of Nezuko.
Seeing Tanjiro’s sister finally step up and assist her brother in battle was an amazing moment that heightened the action of this arc. While the Temari Demon was fairly simple to deal with, the unique powers of the Arrow Demon elevated the action of the fight considerably and makes it clear why fans love this early flight inDemon Slayer.
5Tsuzumi Mansion Arc
Zenitsu Debuts His Skills, And Tanjiro Beats Kyogai On His Turf
After entering Kyogai’s mansion, Tanjiro knows he’s in for a tough battle. The former Lower Rank Demon Moon is no joke and toys with the protagonist on his home turf, which is why it’s amazing to see Tanjiro adapt and survive by any means necessary as he uses moves in a fluid motion to finally behead this demon.
The cherry on top of this arc is thatfans get to see Zenitsu’s true power, surprising them greatly. For a character who cries a lot, Zenitsu’s surprising mastery over the first form of Thunder Breathing allows him to behead a powerful demon in one fell swoop.
4Entertainment District Arc
The Action Takes A While To Start But Never Lets Up Once The Fighting Begins
After the incident with Akaza, it’s clear that the demon slayers needed to upgrade their skills if they wished to deal with the Upper Rank Demon Moons. This is why theEntertainment District arcis so compelling, even if it takes a while for the action to begin.
Both Daki and Gyutaro are tough-as-nails foes who waste no time in showing just how powerful they are, forcing the Sound Hashira andTanjiro’s entourageto pull out all the stops and defeat these foes. While there are some frustrating and drawn-out sequences in this battle, the Entertainment District arc will wow fans with its animation as the demon slayers engage in hellacious skirmishes and come out victorious by the skin of their teeth.
3Mount Natagumo Arc
The Battle Between Tanjiro And Rui Turned Demon Slayer Into A Viral Phenomenon
To this day, there’s something about theMount Nagatumo arcthat makes it great to watch, even though all the Hashira had yet to debut. Rui’s reign of terror forces Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke into some tough battles where they must pull out all the stops to secure victory.
Seeing Inosuke saved in the nick of time as Zenitsu shows off an ultra-powered version of Thunder Breathing’s First Form to defeat his foe is great, butthe highlight is easily Tanjiro’s fight against Rui. After being on the brink of defeat, Tanjiro remembers his father’s Sun Breathing dance and replicates it to cut through Rui’s blood-infused threads. The cherry on top of this visual spectacle is Nezuko using her Blood Demon Art for the first time to save her brother and cement his victory, even if the next episode somewhat cheapens the effect of this moment by showing that Rui survived.
2Swordsmith Village Arc
The Action Starts Almost Instantly As The Demon Slayers Break Their Limits And Awaken Their Mark
After the intense events of the Entertainment District arc, Tanjiro joins with a new group to reforge his sword and learn more about Sun Breathing. However, the Upper Rank 4 & 5 Demon Moons aren’t far behind, kickstarting the action near-instantly as the demon slayers are forced into a fight for their lives once again.
As enthralling as Tanjiro, Mitsuru, and Genya’s skills are,Muichiro steals the show in this arc. After Gyokko gets the drop on him and almost manages to kill the Mist Hashira, he is reminded of the strife he endured as a child and awakens his Demon Slayer Mark for the first time, unleashing a new level of power and annihilating Gyokko in one of the most satisfying beatdowns in the series.
1Mugen Train Arc
Boasts Some Of The Best And Most Heartbreaking Action Sequences In The Series
Rengoku’s infectious charm makes him a highlight of theMugen Train arc,showing his skills when he manages to single-handedly fend off Enmu’s assault across multiple train compartments while Tanjiro and Inosuke take out the Lower Rank 1 Demon Moon. However, even after Enmu’s threat was dealt with, the demon slayers received a rude awakening in the form of Akaza’s sudden appearance.
Despite the Flame Hashira’s best efforts,he received a mortal blowat the end of a brutal battle. It was a sad turn of events, but Tanjiro made it clear that he wouldn’t be intimidated by the likes of Akaza and swore vengeance for his transgressions.
