Dead by Daylight’s long-awaited Killer fromTokyo Ghoulhas been confirmed as Ken Kaneki, the half-ghoul protagonist of the award-winning anime and manga series. Ken Kaneki is available inDead by Daylightnow, though Survivor players shouldn’t expect any mercy from him, as he comes loaded with abilities designed to take them down quickly.

Players have been speculating about Kaneki’s inclusion in the asymmetrical survival horror game for about a year after a series ofDead by DaylightEaster eggs referencingTokyo Ghoulbegan popping up in newly released areas. This trend started back in Chapter 31 with a theater marquee promoting a fake film called “The Ghoul’s Lament” and was most frequently teased in February via a garbled message played by an in-game radio in an inaccessible office building.

Now, multiple posts on the game’s official social media accounts have confirmed theDead by DaylightandTokyo Ghoulcrossoverthat has brought Kaneki to the game. Though he is officially appearing under the name The Ghoul, the developers confirm that this new Killer is their own twisted take on Ken Kaneki, and they’ve provided him with an arsenal of skills to make surviving against him a nightmare. The Ghoul is designed to be highly mobile, able to cross a large section of the map quickly, aided by his four tentacles that let him perform his Kagune Leap skill, which can let him bypass pallets and vault over other obstacles. This move can be performed in a chain of two, and if a Survivor is hit by the second leap, they receive Deep Wounds. Additionally, players hit by the second leap are afflicted with a status called Kagune Mark, which puts The Ghoul into an enraged mode that allows for a third chained leap and an even greater ability to bypass obstacles.

He also comes equipped with threeDead by DaylightKiller Perksthat make his movement abilities outclass Survivors by an even greater margin. These include Hex: Nothing But Misery, which hinders players hit by a basic attack when active, and Forever Entwined, which lets The Ghoul increase the speed at which he picks up, drops, and hooks Survivors after successfully hitting them. Lastly, None Are Free gives him a late-round power that lets him temporarily block windows and upright pallets after all the Survivors have activated all generators.

The addition of a new highly mobile Killer provides a sharp contrast toDead by Daylight’s recent Skull Merchant rework. The Skull Merchant received some big changes at the end of March, and while they were designed to make her more active, she still relies heavily on using drones for reconnaissance and attack, as opposed to The Ghoul’s more direct approach.
