Summary
Dead by Daylighthas launched Update 8.6.2, primarily aimed at shoring up problems with its latest Killer. This is already the third update toDead by Daylightreleased this month, but it is also arguably the most focused, with most of its attention given to making adjustments to The Ghoul.
After more than a year of hidden in-game Easter eggs and a healthy amount of speculation from its fans,Dead by Daylight’sTokyo Ghoulcrossoverarrived on April 2, introducing anime protagonist Ken Kaneki as a menacing new Killer named The Ghoul. The Ghoul is an agile Killer that requires players controlling him to take a head-on approach to tracking down Survivors, making use of his tentacles and Kagune Leap skill to shore up the distance and deal damage.
Based on the latest set of patch notes, it now seems like The Ghoul has been posing a bit too much of a threat for some Survivors, as the development team at Behaviour Interactive has enacted a series of nerfs that reduce his reach, limit his Enraged Mode, make it harder for him to target and grab Survivors, and force cooldowns on the use of Kagune Leap. Specifically, tentacle range has been decreased from 16 meters to 14, Enraged Mode now lasts 40 seconds instead of 45, and Enraged Mode bonus time from successful grabs has been reduced from 15 seconds to 10. Additionally, reticle stickiness time on targets has been cut nearly in half, and breaking a pallet forces a cooldown on one use of Kagune Leap. These changes follow thelastDead by Daylightupdatefrom April 9, which included a lot of bug fixes for The Ghoul.
Update 8.6.2 also includes changes toDead by Daylight’s Blood Moon game mode. The limited-time event, which runs through April 29, temporarily revives a mode similar to one of the same name that was first introduced in 2024. Rather than offering adjustments, the new update fixes some bugs associated with Blood Moon, including preventing the Blood Can from clipping through the ground, not letting the Jerry Blood Can exceed its Blood Point cap, and ensuring that players are credited with objective points when they interact with Fuel Generators.
There are numerous other bug fixes in the update, mending past problems with individual characters, maps, perks, and the user interface. However, one thing not mentioned in the patch notes isDead by Daylight’s leaked creator code feature, so interested players will have to keep their eyes open to news as they await confirmation of creator codes.
