Players Are Heading Back To Vice City, Leonida
All of theGrand Theft Autogames have taken place in fictionalized cities and states within Rockstar Games' version of the United States. However these cities and states are stand-ins forreal-life locations, such as Los Santos, San Andreasbeing the fictionalized version of Los Angeles, California.
WithGrand Theft Auto 6, fans get to return to the state of Leonida, diving back into the neon, sun-soaked, and mean streets of Vice City and the surrounding areas for the first time since 2006. First seen in the original 1997Grand Theft Auto,Vice City is based very much on the city of Miami, Florida, and is one of the very first of three locations ever seen in theGrand Theft Autoseries, alongside Liberty City and San Andreas.

The Two Main Characters Of Grand Theft Auto 6
In the trailer, thelead female protagonistis called Lucia by an unnamed character in the opening shots, which show her in a prison jumpsuit. She is seen talking with someone who seems to be a prison employee, with their conversation revolving around why Lucia is in prison. Lucia responds with “Bad luck, I guess.”
The other main character, a man, who is believed to be Lucia’s partner in crime, and potentially Lucia’s lover, is currently officially unnamed, but is believed to be named Jason. 2Story
Setting The Stage Of Grand Theft Auto 6
Not much is knownabout the storyofGrand Theft Auto 6. The trailer has plenty of sweeping landscape shots of the vibrant Vice City and surrounding areas, but that’s not to say it doesn’t have some story beats that are likely set at the beginning of the game.
The main character, Lucia, is seen in prison in the opening shots of the trailer. She is then, later on, seen entering a store with her male partner holding handguns with face coverings on, suggesting they are robbing the store. Then, together, Lucia and her partner are seen fleeing police in a car, with Lucia holding a fistful of dollar bills. It’s unclear if the prison scene in the opening is before or after Lucia robs the store.
1Immersion
Being Immersed In Vice City
WithGrand Theft Auto 6being a long time coming, Rockstar Gameshas had ample time to tweak details that willimmerse playersinto the world of Vice City. In a quote from Rockstar Games' founder Sam Houser in the official press release, he says thatGrand Theft Auto 6"…continues our efforts to push the limits of what’s possible in highly immersive, story-driven open-world experiences."
The trailer features plenty of in-game footage of characters doing things from dancing on yachts to confronting unseen characters with weapons. Most of these videos look like they were taken from a phone, with elements that suggest that these videos were posted to some kind of social media platform. These are likely in the same vein as TikTok or Instagram, with prompts such as “Follow” appearing on-screen, suggesting that social media and every-present phone cameras will play a large role in the game.
