Having a good Greatsword build inThe First Berserker: Khazanis a great place to start learning how to use this weapon. This guide covers the Greatsword’s best skills and item sets as well as some tips on how to use them all properly.
Best Greatsword Skills in The First Berserker: Khazan
Unlike the Spearand Dual Wield, much of the Greatsword’s damage comes from charged attacks, and the most basic of its playstyles include chaining charged attacks together to deal massive burst damage. In order to do that, make sure to get the following skills and passives as soon as possible:
Lets you charge Swift Attacks.
Mortal Blow
Lets you chain Swift Attacks into Potent Blows. Combine this with Savage Momentum for a looping charged attack combo.
Overwhelm
Increases the charging speed and damage of attacks performed after Savage Momentum or the final hit of the Swift Attack combo.
Increase the reach of charged Potent Blows.
Limit Break
Potent Blow can be charged additional times, but it costs 1 Spirit when overcharged.
Phantom: Night’s Veil (Active Skill)
Perform a heavy swing that damages enemies. All charged attacks after the swing will cause damaging pulses to erupt from Khazan while they are charging. The pulses can stagger all enemies, including bosses.
Heat of Battle
Gain increased poise and take less damage while attacking. Great for trading blows with enemies.
Heavy Pressure
Using a charged attack will increase the charging speed of subsequent charged attacks.
Combat Cadence
Gain the ability to perform two light attacks after dodging. This ability is great for chasing, closing gaps, and staggering targets, and it can be used to chain to Savage Momentum and Mortal Blow.
Helm Break
Gain the ability to perform a leaping charged attack while sprinting. The charge time for this attack is fast, and it can be used to quickly start Savage Momentum/Mortal Blow combos.
Armor Breaker
Follow-up a successful block with two quick Greatsword slashes. Brink Guards empower these slashes, causing them to deal more damage. This is your bread-and-butter skill for starting Greatsword combos from a defensive stance.
The skills abovecan be considered Core Greatsword Skills, and every build with this weapon should have them unlocked. Players will need them to start the Greatsword’s fastest and strongest combos. Once you unlock these skills, ensure to grab their upgrade nodes later on.
The Greatsword also has a number of active skills, though they aren’tas mandatory as Phantom: Night’s Veil. Still, they have their uses, and it’s up to the player to decide which ones they prefer. Still, here’s a brief rundown on each of them to help you figure things out:
