Summary
There are lots of great mods available for7 Days to Die.Some offer minor bug fixes, while others change the game entirely. Gameplay mods add a little more flavor to the game’s vanilla version. From mods that bring back some of the game’s older mechanics to ones that increase the frequency of wandering hordes, these mods help give players a little more bang for their buck.
7 Days to Dieis an endlessly replayable game. However, after a few playthroughs, things can start to feel a little repetitive. Downloading and using mods can help keep the gameplay fresh and entertaining.
1TechFreqs Despawn Zombies Mod
Great For Reducing Performance Issues
For all its merits,7 Days to Diedoes have its bugs. Players who are using older PCs will likely notice more bugs than those playing on a console or newer PCs. Because of the game’s vast open world, there’s a lot of data for systems to process, which can lead to bugs. The longer a playthrough lasts, the more bugs seem to pop up. This mod despawns dead zombies much faster than normal.
By default, a downed zombie will despawn after 30 seconds. While this doesn’t sound like a long time, if the player is in the process ofclearing a high-tier POI, zombie corpses stack up fast. This can lead to drops in frame rates and strange and sometimes even game-breaking bugs. This mod will despawn downed zombies just 5 seconds after they’ve been killed. It’s worth noting that this mod doesn’t affect dead animal despawn times, so players still have plenty of time to harvest resources from animals.
2TechFreqs Buried Supplies And Treasure Finder
Find Buried Treasure Much Faster
Buried treasure missionsand treasure maps typically offer the player some decent loot. This is especially true for treasure maps. While the loot is good, finding the loot is often easier said than done. The default radius for buried loot is pretty large. Also, every few blocks dug out by the player during a buried supplies mission creates a chance for zombies to spawn. This mod narrows down the search radius, making finding the treasure much easier.
When active, instead of the player needing to search a large area, they’ll receive a pinpoint for a “Hot Zone” that helps players go straight for the treasure without much need for digging around.
3TechFreqs Lootable Mattresses And Curtains (Drapes)
More Options For Looting
While there are lots of containers to loot in7 Days to Die,it’s always nice to have more options. This mod turns formerly unlootable items, such as mattresses and drapes, into lootable containers.Players will find basic resourcessuch as cloth, wood, springs, iron, and scrap polymers inside beds and curtains.
This is a small change, but it’s a welcome one, as it’s all too easy to run out of basic resources early on during a playthrough. It’s worth noting that the new lootable items withinthis mod grant players a similar amount of XP when compared to opening a container in the vanilla version of the game.
4Start History Plus Quest
Enjoy A Headstart On Day One
No matter the settings the player selects, all playthroughs start the same way. This mod gives players the ability to select pre-made loadouts to start with. Each option will give the players some starting skills and some items to help them on their journey. An example of one of the loadouts can be seen below:
Each pre-made loadout also gives the player a unique buff, which can be very beneficial early on. This mod is great for new players as it gives them a little extra help. It’s also great for experienced players who want to turn the difficulty up for another playthrough.
5Return Of Wellness
Brings Back An Old Mechanic
7 Days to Diehas gone through lots of changes over the years. One of the things that was removed by The Fun Pimps was Wellness.Wellness was a mechanic that allowed players to increase their maximum health and stamina when they were well-fed, hydrated, and in good health. This mechanic was one that many players enjoyed, and they will no doubt be pleased to see its return with this mod.
For those who aren’t familiar with the Wellness mechanic, it doesn’t just increase one’s health and stamina, it can also decrease those stats. Should a player get injured or become hungry, then their Wellness level will decrease, causing some penalties to the player’s stats.
6Vita - Craftable Traders
Build Your Own Trader
Traveling back and forth between traders can be very time-consuming, especially on the larger maps. This mod allows players to craft their very own trader. Each of the traderscan be crafted by the player for 10,000 Dukes.Players using this mod can simply place a trader in or near their base to have a personal store right on their doorstep.
While those who enjoy the challenge that comes with traveling to and from traders may not want to try this mod out, players who are only keen on building might find this mod very useful.
7TechFreqs Wandering Animal Horde
Have The Food Come To You
Wandering hordes are relatively common in7 Days to Die.However, for the most part, a wandering horde consists of undead enemies and not animals. This mod allows players to spawn hordes of animals. Except for undead animals such as Zombie Bears and Dire Wolves, animals can be harvested for their meat.
Getting enough food to survive can be a challenge during the early stages of a game. So, being able to spawn a horde of animals can help the player stock up on food. Be careful, as many of the animals in the game like to bite!
8Vita - Enhanced Fishing
A Highly Requested Feature
A fishing feature is something that players have been wanting for a very long time. While The Fun Pimps has yet to introduce any fishing mechanics to the game, this mod has it covered. This mod allows players to craft a fishing rod and the baits to go with it.
Using a fishing rod is as simple as dangling the rod in the water and waiting for a fish to take the bait. There are three types of fish that come with this mod: salmon, tuna, and golden carp. Each onecan be cooked up for a tasty meal.
