One such tool is a torch, the British word for flashlight, which is invaluable for exploring the game’s various dark and creepy bunkers, plus other map areas with low light. However, you might wonder how to get a torch inAtomfall, especially when first beginning the game and with lots of ground to cover across its various map zones.
Fortunately, there are several locations inAtomfallwhere you can pick up a torch or flashlight for free, including some handy spots not far from the starting Bunker. Using a torch inAtomfallalso helps you locate other collectibles when exploring dark places, with light from the torch highlighting loot in the environment and making it easier to spot.

While there are various places you may find a torch inAtomfall, some of the best torch locations early on in the game are discoverablearound Slatten Dale, the first major map area you’ll enter after exiting the starting Bunker when first beginning the game. You can findseveral torches located in Slatten Dale, as outlined below.
Slatten Dale Waterwheels Building
Perhaps the easiest place to find a torch is inside one of the buildings at theWaterwheels in Slatten Dale, a landmark site you can find at points 27.4E, 74.9N on the map. There are a few buildings you can search inside and outlaws patrolling the area, so be careful when approaching if you’re playing the game on a higher difficulty. Specifically, you can find the torchon a wooden crate inside the first floor of the stone building with yellow signs that read ‘Hobb’s Quarry Mining Company’atposition 28.0E, 75.0N, as pictured above and shown in the video below.
Inside the building with the torch at the Waterwheels landmark, you can loot other goodies upstairs, including a First Aid Kit, Gunpowder, andJohn Steel: Special Agent comic bookpast the nearby tripwire and other collectibles like Tea and Towels. You can also find more Rifle Ammo and a rusty Terrier .22 Rifle in the building nearby.
Inside Bunker L7
Another place you can find a torch in Slatten Dale isinside Bunker L7, located on top of the broken bridge atpoints 27.7E, 71.9Non the map. On entering Bunker 7,search thecorpse on the floor immediately to your leftto grab a torch and a few other items, including a Hatchet, Scrap, and Gun Oil. There’s also aTraining Stimulant on the tableup the stairs ahead, but be careful if you plan to explore further with infected enemies by the wall nearby.
It may also be possible to find a torch in other locations as you exploreAtomfall’s maps further, with some players potentially being able to buy one fromspecific traders inAtomfall. However, in most cases, you can find a torch for free while exploring the world in the above locations or by looting other corpses, so buying one is likely unnecessary.
How To Use a Torch in Atomfall
Once you’ve found a torch inAtomfall, equipping and using it is pretty straightforward. To use a torch (flashlight) inAtomfall,press the Y button(if playingAtomfallon Xbox) toquick-equip it. You can thenpress the right trigger once to switch the torch on, thenpress it again to switch it off. Turning on the torch or flashlight in dark places can help you navigate the environment more easily and highlight loot while exploring the world, such as when exploring dark spots in Bunkers, the Slate Mine Caves, and more. Sometimes, it’s the most basic equipment that’s the most useful.
