Summary
Assassin’s Creed Shadows' 1.0.2 patch has been revealed by Ubisoft, and it’s bringing a myriad of important fixes and quality-of-life improvements to the game. Having launched late last month,Assassin’s Creed Shadowsis one of the biggest game releases of 2025 so far. The game’s feudal Japan setting, protagonist duo, meaningful stealth, and more methodical combat have garnered much praise, as the game sits at a more than respectable 82 on OpenCritic.
Whilereception ofAssassin’s Creed Shadowshas been mostly positive, there have still been some small issues and inconveniences players have been dealing with since the game’s release. Perhaps the biggest and most notable had to do with dramatic frame drops in the game’s home base Hideout area. It’s a space that allows players to build useful structures and add decorative items, but players have been noticing greatly reduced frame rates while inside the area. Players aren’t required to go there much throughout the game, but Ubisoft promised a fix in a future patch or update.
Now,details ofAssassin’s Creed Shadows' new patchhave been revealed. Patch 1.0.2 will roll out tomorrow, April 8, and will weigh in at 19 GB for Xbox users, around 12 GB for PS5 gamers, and up to 16 GB on PC. Visits to the game’s Hideout will be smoother for Performance Mode users, as the area’s frame rate has been uncapped. Also having to do with the Hideout’s upgrade forge is the new item tagging system, which allows players to tag gear to sell or dismantle all at once, making the forge and vendor experience a bit less clunky.Gamers who are enjoyingAssassin’s Creed Shadowson the PS5 Pro will get a bit more out of this new patch, as it adds support for the console’s PSSR feature.
A major new improvement coming toAssassin’s Creed Shadowsas part of Patch 1.0.2 has to do with the game’s horse riding. The landscapes and terrain ofShadowscan be very mountainous and tricky to navigate if not using the carved-out roads or paths. Thankfully, the game offers players a guiding pathfinder feature that provides a thin white line all the way to players' marked quest or destination. PastRPG-styleAssassin’s Creedentriesthat had this feature also allowed players on horseback to auto-follow the pathfinder line, except forShadows. Patch 1.0.2 now allows players to do so. Additionally, horses inAssassin’s Creed Shadowsslow down considerably while riding through the game’s big towns and villages, leading to players having to dismount and sprint to get around them quicker. Now, much to the peril of NPC bystanders, horses will be able to sprint through towns.
While Patch 1.0.2 is certainly massive, Ubisoft is refraining from calling itAssassin’s Creed Shadows' first big title update. This means that such an update is likely still around the corner, and judging by how large this new patch is, the title update might turn out to be even larger. In the meantime,Assassin’s Creed Shadowsplayers can enjoythe many quality-of-life improvements this new patch has to offer.

Game Improvements
The team has been working on a first batch of improvements following your feedback since launch.
Horse Auto-Follow and Speed improvements
Auto-Follow the road is back to help you navigate while riding your horse. Simply activate the pathfinder to enable Auto-Follow, and your horse will automatically follow the road to your marked destination.
We’ve also increased horse speeds in cities so you’re able to get to your destination faster.
Mastery Nodes Reset
Is your stealth build not sneaky enough? Could Yasuke pack a heavier punch? We’ve added the option to reset Mastery Nodes in the skill trees so you’re able to test different playstyles and skills for both Naoe and Yasuke.
Selling / Dismantling multiple items
We know you’ve been hard at work exploring every corner of Feudal Japan, and that means you’ve filled your pockets with resources and loot.
To help you save time when trading with merchants, we’ve added the option to tag and sell/dismantle multiple items in shops, or when dismantling gear at the Forge in the Hideout.
Investigation Board Shortcut
The Investigation Board is central to your journey, and we’ve added a new shortcut for direct access while in-game.
With Title Update 1.0.2, holding theOPTIONbutton for a few seconds will take you directly to the Investigation Board, while a single press will open the inventory menu.
This update now allows you to easily launch the World Map, Inventory, or Investigation Board smoothly as you play.
