“Inside Help"is one of several main quests inAssassin’s Creed Shadowsthat help establish the location and identity ofThe Fool. Unlike many similar quests that reveal Shinbakufu members, “Inside Help” requires a fair amount of work. First, you’ll be required to locate Ujimasa, a Samurai hiding out at one of the many temples inKyoto. Ujimasa will task you with taking out the Takahashi family, a group of corrupt Samurai causing problems for the merchants of Kyoto. In this guide, we’ll show youwhere to find Ujimasa inAssassin’s Creed Shadows,and provide a complete walkthrough for “Inside Help.”
How to Begin Inside Help in AC Shadows
Meet Ise Sadatame:
To begin the “Inside Help” side quest inAC Shadows,you’ll need to complete “The Bad Brother,” the first quest in the chain that reveals The Fool, one of the many Shinbakufu members. “The Bad Brother” will lead you toIse Sadatame, the brother of your eventual target,Ise Sadaoki.
Ise Sadatame is located inByodoin Temple,which is found in the northern region ofOgura Pondprovince,Yamashiro. After a long discussion about his brother, Sadatame will send you to meet withUjimasa, a Samurai who is essentially working undercover atKiyomizudera Temple. This will conclude “The Bad Brother,” and unlock “Inside Help”.
Where to Find Ujimasa in AC Shadows
Ujimasa is hiding out inKiyomizudera Temple, which sits just outside southernKyoto, the major city in Yamashiro. Like all targets, you are given the following three clues to his whereabouts:
The southwestern border of the Hills of Meaning province lines up with the edge of Kyoto, so that tells you that the temple will be just over the border. Head east out of southern Kyoto, and you’ll find the temple quite easily. Kiyomizudera Temple is a massive compound that is very hard to miss.

Ujimasa is located in the lower sections of the temple, near a large fountain that he appears to be manning. He seems to be acting as some type of monk, and will interact with Naoe or Yasuke as such when you first meet.
Which Fountain Water Should You Drink From Ujimasa in AC Shadows?
Water Options:
When you first meet with Ujimasa, he’ll offer you a drink from one of three fountains. The options are as follows:
While Ujimasa’s wording may leave many players expecting there to be a wrong answer, there is no need to fret over your choice.Yasuke and Naoe can pick any one of the three water options, and the outcome will be the same.
InAC Shadows’Canon Mode, Naoe chooses to drink from the Success fountain. She chooses Success “for us all to live in peace, and for the cycle of loss to end.” We do not know yet if Yasuke chooses a different option, as we only played as Naoe in Canon Mode.
After drinking from the fountain, Ujimasa will reveal that, before he will trust you, you must perform a task. This task ends up being all of “The Twisted Tree” side quest.
The Twisted Tree:
As “The Twisted Tree” is a completely separate quest, we created a full guide tofinding every member of the Takahashi family inAssassin’s Creed Shadows.Follow the link for a detailed rundown of the entire quest. A brief description will be provided below.
The easiest way to handle the Takahashi family is to take out the patriarch –Inoshiche Takahashi– first. If you invade his compound, all the hostile family members will show up in an attempt to protect their father. you’re able to take them all out in one fell swoop.
To reveal Inoshichi’s location, complete the first sub-quest, “Help Wanted.” This will lead you to a merchant outsideNijo PalaceinKyoto. verify to pick up the letter off the ground, as this will explain thatyou should not kill Goro Takahashi, or his sisterIchi-hime.
You can find Inoshichi in his compound in southwestern Kyoto. Goro and Ichi-hime will automatically be spared if you kill Inoshichi and his hostile children after picking up the previously mentioned letter.
Complete Inside Help:
Once you have completed “The Twisted Tree,” return to Ujimasa at Kiyomizudera Temple. As a reward for taking out the Takahashis, Ujimasa will give you theYamazaki Castle Gate Key, which is required for the final confrontation with The Fool. This will officially end “Inside Help.” You will also be awarded 1000 XP for completing the mission.
