Summary
Marvel Snap’s new card acquisition system, Card Pack, is set to go live on April 29. While veteran players are already bracing for the change, theMarvel Snapteam has given fans a heads-up about what to expect in the days leading up to the update.
Since its launch,Snaphas faced heavy criticism over its card acquisitionsystem. Many fans have accused developer Second Dinner of unfairly monetizing new cards, arguing that Spotlight Caches, the game’s primary method of card collection, have driven players away and made it difficult for newcomers to catch up. The game initially attempted to address these issues with Series Drops, gradually making newer cards more accessible. However, that solution fell short, prompting the developer to plan a much more significant change.
On April 29,Marvel Snapwill officially roll out its new card-acquisition feature called Card Packs. This system will replace Spotlight Caches, aiming to give players more control over which cards they want to collect. There will be two types of packs, Seasonal and Collector’s, each offering different sets of characters. Seasonal Packs focus on the latest releases, while Collector’s Packs include all unowned cards from previous seasons. The biggest improvement is that, unlikeMarvel Snap’s Spotlight Caches, Card Packs will never contain duplicates, ensuring that every purchase unlocks a new character.
Seasonal Series 5 & 4
All Collector’s Packs contain one unowned card of the given Series and two bonus items.
Collector’s Series 3, 4, & 5
All Collector’s Packs contain unowned cards of the given Series.
Players looking to check out the upcoming update should note thatMarvel Snap’s final Spotlight Cache will remain available until April 30, offering three cards: Hydra Stomper, Arana, and Madame Web. Those who want to use theirSpotlight Keys inSnapone last time should avoid downloading the Packs update when it launches. Instead, they must wait until May 1, when the patch becomes mandatory for all players.
Inthe blog post announcing the Card Pack update, Second Dinner also revealed plans to release more cards each season. Veteran players knowMarvel Snapusually adds one new card per week, typically totaling five to six new characters per month. With the upcoming changes to the card-acquisition system, however, the developer is set to increase that number without abandoning the current weekly release cadence. In other words, Card Packs will make room for additional card drops, often from the game’s lower Series. Fans will also be excited to hear that “Custom Packs” are coming in the future, featuring themed sets somewhat reminiscent of theEX Starter Decks in Pokemon TCG Pocket.
