There are quite a few monsters inMonster Hunter Wilds, and they range from beasts, wyverns, and, of course, giant insects. The Temnoceran family has some of the creepiest and crawliest of monsters in the series, and they come in all shapes and sizes.

For better or worse, Temnocerans make up only a small percentage ofthe total monster count inMH Wilds. If you’re wondering what monsters fall under this category for whatever purpose, here’s a short guide to help you out.

What are Temnocerans in MH Wilds?

As mentioned, Temnocerans refer toall types of arachnoid creatures, which means they usually have eight legs and can produce and discharge some sort of silk or webbing. They are different from the beetle-like Neopterons (Bulaqchi, Comaqchi, Vespoids, Ahtal-Ka, etc) and the crustacean-like Carapaceons (Hermitaurs, Shen Gaoren, Akura Vashimu).

As of writing, there are only two Temnoceran monsters inMonster Hunter Wilds, though more may be added in title updates and/or possible expansions in the future.

Nerscylla

The Nerscylla is a large Temnoceran that resembles a stereotypical arachnid. It has eight legs, multiple eyes, large claws, and poison sacs. They also have retractable pincer-like jaws that they use when their prey is immobilized. In combat, they use sticky webs to catch hunters before attacking with their pincers.

Nerscyllas are weak to Fire damage, and their parts can be turned into weapons that induce Sleep.Nerscylla Claws are especially valuablefor the creation of weapons and armor.

Lala Barina

The Lala Barina is a six-legged Temnoceranwith a unique flower-like appearance. They appear as regular arachnoid creatures with spiky legs and fluffy white hair. However, when agitated, Lala Barinas can unfurl their abdomens to reveal a rose-shaped tuft of red bristles and a retractable stinger.

Lala Barinas can disperse what appear to be red spider lilies from their abdomen while in combat. When touched, these flowers paralyze anything they come in contact with. These monsters also have giant, retractable stingers that emerge from their abdomen, and they also carry paralytic properties.

Like Nerscyllas, Lala Barinas are weak to Fire damage. Their stingers, petals, and claws can also be targeted and broken when enough damage is dealt to them.

Other Temnocerans

So far, the only other large Temnoceran in theMonster Hunterfranchise is the Rakna-Kadaki fromMH Rise. They’re similar to Nerscyllas in overall appearance and behavior, though they use Fire attacks and are therefore resistant to Fire damage. Rakna-Kadaki also carry their offspring called Rachnoids, which also count as Temnocerans.
