Very Light

Light
Less challenging than Moderate. Resources are more common, and enemies are less dangerous.
For players who don’t want things to get too easy, but still like to focus on the game’s narrative elements.
Moderate
Provides an overall balanced experience. Resources are limited.
A well-balanced mode where players can experience a reasonable challenge in combat and resource management.
Hard
For those looking for a greater challenge. Resources are very limited, and enemies are more dangerous.
Players who want to experience tough enemy encounters and the intense survival mechanics of the game.
Survivor
An intense, demanding challenge. Resources are extremely scarce, and enemies are deadly.
A more challenging version of Hard mode, that makes enemies a lot deadlier and pushes a player’s survival skills to the limit.
Grounded
The most challenging and realistic experience. Listen mode, HUD, and other gameplay elements are altered in this game mode.
Meant for players who’ve already completedThe Last of Us Part 2once. It significantly changes the gameplay mechanics. Players will need to rely on stealth and avoid combat where possible to survive.
Although there are six base difficulty options inTLOU 2, players can add an additional layer of difficulty byenabling Permadeath.
