However, unlocking chapters/progressingXenoblade Chronicles X’s story isn’t as simple as going to an objective marker. Some chapters are locked behind non-story related missions. InXenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition, a new chapter was created exclusively for the 2025 remaster.

To start a new chapter, you need to accept theStory Mission, indicated by thered objective marker. In some cases, you may not be able to accept the Story Mission. This might be becauseyou have an active Affinity Mission.
How to Unlock All Chapters
All Story Mission Prerequisites
You can start Story Missions by accepting the “New Orders” quest on the job board (under basic missions). This will be posted by Vandham, and you’ll have to return to BLADE Barracks to speak with him. Each Story Mission has arecommended level, but it may also have a list of quests you’ll need to complete before you can start the next chapter.
While Story Missionsdon’t normally have a level requirement, Chapter 8 and Chapter 13 (Act 3) are the exceptions.
