Overwatch 2’s two-part LE SSERAFIM collaboration has been massively successful. Though Blizzard has not revealed any official numbers, according to SteamDB, its crossovers with the popular South Korean K-pop group have propelledOverwatch 2to the top 10 and 19th global spots during both events' runtimes. Typically, without a new season or collaboration, Blizzard’s hero-shooter hovers just outside the top 100.

In addition to the return ofOverwatch 2’s ANTIFRAGILE LE SSERAFIM skinsin August 2024, which celebrated LE SSERAFIM’s “Perfect Night” Music Video reaching 100 million views, it’s safe to say the various crossovers have been extremely popular. As such, ifOverwatch 2were to triple down in the future and partner with LE SSERAFIM again for new cosmetics, it would be a welcome addition. This may be especially true if Team 4 opted to turn the spotlight on the males.

Overwatch 2’s LE SSERAFIM Collab Is Deserving of a Third Round

Fans Express Desire for More Variety in Future K-Pop Collaboration Skins

In aninterview with Polygon, Aimee Dennett, Associate Director of Product Management forOverwatch, detailed the thought process behind the FEARLESS LE SSERAFIM skins. Alongside working closely with the Blizzard Korea Studio, it was also revealed that “[Team 4 worked] closely with LE SSERAFIM as well, and the girls [had] their thoughts and ideas on what they [liked] to see on the heroes.” Some fans took this to mean that the members of the band were personally involved in selecting which heroes would receive skins, though this was never confirmed. However, in the same interview, talking about thenew LE SSERAFIMOverwatchcollaboration, Art Director Dion Rogers noted that the team first tried to “imagine which hero on the team might actually listen to LE SSERAFIM or be into it.”

With this in mind, many of the ladies ofOverwatchmake perfect sense for a female K-pop group crossover, but Blizzard should also consider inviting its male cast to the party if it opts to bring back the collaboration in a future season. Currently, the only male-identifying characters to receive LE SSERAFIM collaboration skins are Junkrat and B.O.B., Ashe’s Omnic butler. For reference, in the past,Junkrat’s free Legendary skin, Fawksey James, was obtainable by completing challenges in the limited-time Concert Clash mode. In Season 15 ofOverwatch 2, B.O.B.’s security guard outfit could be purchased in tandem with Ashe’s FEARLESS skin.

Some fans vocalized that they hoped Lucio, who is an underground DJ and celebrityinOverwatch’s lore, would get a FEARLESS skin. Others thought it was possible that if the Concert Clash mode returned or a new LE SSERAFIM-inspired game mode debuted, Lucio would be a prime candidate for a free Legendary skin akin to Junkrat’s from 2023. While this didn’t come to fruition, the potential remains as a third LE SSERAFIM partnership could even include “Blue Flame” remixes of the FEARLESS skins.

A bolder yet fun twist could see Blizzard including male characters that may not appear like they’d be interested in K-pop at first glance. For instance, Reaper is usually portrayed as edgy and brooding, but it could be that he’s secretly a die-hard fan of LE SSERAFIM. Reinhardt, with his massive armor and older age, could also be enjoyable to watch in a fun little dance animation. Similarly, due to the promotional material of Ramattra watching the girls attend the concert, some are vouching forthe leader of Null Sectorto be admitted entry next time. This could be very fitting since Ramattra will be receiving a dance emote sometime soon, as confirmed by Senior Hero Producer Kenny Hudson in late February.
